# Prayer #2

1 min read

Lord, before you I kneel
In a structure not so well
As I never had time to learn
How to upturn.
On this day of the calendar
With open palms I surrender.

I ask thee to teach me
How to change gently.

Like how my fingers
Learned to unclench fists
To embracing hands,
Finger by trembling finger.

Like how winter
Learned to warm up
To a lively spring,
Flake by melting flake.

Be gentle, please.
Crack the shell
But not the one inside
Who is shivering.

Touch not my meaning
But rearrange my grammar
So that I sound clear
To those foreign ears.

Bestow me love,
That feel not like a chore.
Bestow me joy,
That feel not like a wound.
Bestow me laughter,
That feel not like a guard.
Bestow me rest,
That feel not like a surrender.

Lord, I do not know how to pray
Accept my attempt of faith.

Make me feel heard.
